David C. Edmonds

Dr. David C. Edmonds is a former US Marine, Peace Corps Volunteer, academic dean and Senior Fulbright Professor of Economics with long experience in Europe and Latin America as a scholar and US Government representative. He grew up in south Mississippi and Louisiana and studied at L.S.U., Notre Dame, Georgetown, George Washington, and American University in Washington, DC. His Ph.D. is in the field of international and Third World economics.

He has authored, co-authored, or edited twelve published books and numerous academic and journal articles. His first book, Yankee Autumn in Acadiana, won the top literary award of the Louisiana Library Association. His thriller, Lily of Peru and the Spanish version (Lirio del Peru) was inspired by his experiences in Peru and is the recipient of numerous first or second-place literary awards, including three International Latino Book Awards for fiction, a Royal Palm Literary Award of the Florida Writers' Association, the Silver Award of Readers Favorites, and a Latino-Books-Into-Movies Award of Latino Literacy Now.

His second romance thriller, The Girl in the Glyphs, co-authored with his late wife Maria Nieves Edmonds, was inspired by his experiences in Nicaragua and is also the recipient of a Royal Palm Literary Award of the Florida Writers' Association, a first-place International Latino Book Award for fiction, a Latino Books into Movies Award, and an International Latino Book Award.

The Heretic of Granada, a historical fiction thriller about a priest on the run from the Inquisition, also won a Royal Palm Literary Award, a literary award from the Florida Writers and Publishers Association (FAPA) and an International Latino book Award.

Flamenco in the Time of Moonshine and Mobsters is the story of a young flamenco dancer on the run from gangsters and the law in Tampa's Ybor City during the prohibition era of the early 1930s. Flamenco also won first-place literary awards.

His latest novel, Blue Magic on Mushroom Island, is also set in Nicaragua and is the story of a young American journalist who witnesses a bizarre assassination. Blood is on her hands, and she's been in Nicaragua long enough to know that witnesses to assassination do not always live to tell their story.
