Judith A. Jonas

Judith A. Jonas retired from being the coordinator and co-founder of the Fair Lawn Deaf Program, a literacy, job placement and counseling program for deaf adults. She has an M.A. degree in Deaf Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University and completed the ASL/Deaf Studies and Interpreting for the Deaf Programs at Union County College. Judy worked with Rose Pizzo to write a memoir: “Growing Up Deaf: Issues of Communication in a Hearing World.” As the youngest of three siblings, Judy has several deaf relatives: a brother, sister-in-law, nephew and a niece. She is also the founder and Chair of Sister Brother Deaf Inc. a non-profit corporation designed to disseminate information about deaf and hearing sibling relationships. She recently moved to Bethesda, Maryland and is a freelance sign language interpreter, holding EIPA NJ Educational Interpreter Certification.
