Donnie was born and raised in Bassett, Virginia, the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains he likes to boast. His career centers around being a self-employed businessman where he started and sold three successful businesses.
Now in retirement at Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, Donnie spends time with his wife, Jackie, son Justin and his spouse, and three granddaughters he admits to spoiling along with their family dogs. Along with sitting at his keyboard writing his next, Historical, Suspense or Romantic novel.
His desire to write began when he was a child living with his grandparents. The image of his grandfather sitting beside the coal-fed, pot-bellied stove late in the evenings reading stories to him from the Reader’s Digest or Life Magazine etched a yearning in him at a young age to write.
A Selah Awards winner, Donnie’s stories reflect real life issues with strong characters navigating through challenges to overcome all odds. He fills his stories with twist and turns to keep readers on edge while not exposing the outcome until the end of the story. Where does Donnie get his inspiration for the next story? His moto is, “Every life has a story, and every story has a life.”
