The Professor of Food and Biosystems Engineering in University College Dublin (UCD,爱尔兰国立都柏林大学), Professor Da-Wen Sun (孙大文院士)is a world authority in food engineering research and education. He is a Member of Royal Irish Academy which is the highest academic honour in Ireland, he is also a Member of Academia Europaea (The Academy of Europe) and a Fellow of International Academy of Food Science and Technology. His main research activities include cooling, drying and refrigeration processes and systems, quality and safety of food products, bioprocess simulation and optimisation, and computer vision technology. Especially, his many scholarly works have become standard reference materials for researchers in the areas of computer vision, computational fluid dynamics modelling, vacuum cooling, etc. Results of his work have been published in more than 700 papers including over 350 peer-reviewed SCI journal papers (Web of Science h-index = 56). He has also edited 14 authoritative books. According to Thomson Reuters's Essential Science IndicatorsSM, Professor Sun is ranked among the top 50 most cited scientists in the category of Agriculture Sciences for the past many years. Professor Sun is also the President of International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR) and the Editor-in-Chief of Food and Bioprocess Technology (2012 Impact Factor = 4.115). Professor Sun has won many international prizes and awards, including "CIGR Merit Award" (2000) (2006), "Food Engineer of the Year 2004", "AFST(I) Fellow Award" (2007), "CIGR Recognition Award" (2008), "CIGR Fellow Award" (2010).
