I am sitting near two windows, with birds flitting in the trees outside, thinking of readers like you and hoping my work enriches your days and the days of your children. Ruby Mountain Press has a vision of publishing selected, high quality, nonfiction and fiction books that engage readers with humor, with inspiration, with joy, with enhanced knowledge or with new skills, to wonder, to laugh, and to try.

We felt we wanted to give back in other ways, so last year, we donated 100% of sales on THE TREES OF JOE to the World Food Program (because you can't enjoy a story if you're hungry).

All my life I've worked with students of all ages and in many varied roles and settings: university, high school, middle school, elementary, ELL, Gifted, special needs, online, international (Japan and Mexico), and it has been an honor and blessing to share this life with youthful learners. The secondary students were the source of the books LANGUAGE SOUP: A TASTE OF HOW DIVERSE PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD COMMUNICATE as well as our best seller A TEEN'S GUIDE TO THE CONVERSATION GAME. Also, the BOP AND GROP series for young readers helps them compare and contrast, and learn specific difficult vocabulary while enjoying adventurous stories of two grandsons and two grandpas. TERRIFIC TERMITES by Rebecca Knox (Farris) gives questions and answers about the fascinating world beneath our feet of the world of termites--and as a special benefit the illustrations came from elementary students in an art contest.

Our family lived in Japan after the Great Hanshin Earthquake in Kobe, and if you like reading memoirs, you'll enjoy that story. I'm continuing to write and I hope you are writing and reading too.
