Jerry Mintz

Jerry Mintz has been a leading voice in the alternative school movement for over 40 years. He was a public school teacher and principal, and for seventeen years was an independent alternative school principal. In 1989, he founded the Alternative Education Resource Organization and has helped found hundreds of alternative schools and organizations. He has been featured on National Public Radio, major television networks, and in the New York Times, Newsday, among others.

Mintz was the publisher and editor of Education Revolution, Editor-in-Chief for the Handbook of Alternative Education (Macmillan) and the Almanac of Education Choices (Simon & Schuster), author of No Homework & Recess All Day, and co-editor of Turning Points: 35 Visionaries in Education Tell Their Own Stories. He continues to lecture and consult around the world.
