Hervé Lebret is in charge of Inria Startup Studio (Paris). Until 2019, he was head of support to start-up creation at EPFL, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. In both locations, he has been managing a pre-seed fund for students and researchers, and was teaching entrepreneurship at EPFL. Until 2004, he was with Index Ventures, a pan-European venture capital firm which invested in Skype, mysql. He began his career as a researcher in electrical engineering and applied mathematics in Paris. He is the author of the book "Start-Up, what we may still learn from Silicon Valley" and related blog www.startup-book.com. Lebret is a graduate of Ecole Polytechnique and Stanford University.
