Dr. Nancy J Merrick is a former student and colleague of Jane Goodall who has studied chimpanzees in Tanzania and at Stanford University. She is a lifelong advocate for chimpanzees, and founded ChimpSaver.org, an interactive website that connects users to ways to help chimps. Her writing features stories of man's closest relatives and of intriguing figures like Dr. Goodall. With chimps now extinct in 4 countries of Africa and nearly so in 10 others, she tells us that saving forests is more important than ever.
The New York Times review of Among Chimpanzees (9/30/14) calls it "...a sobering and clear-eyed new book...and clarion call to action." The book is featured in National Geographic Book Club, and has been listed as an important new book in Stanford Magazine, and at ScientificAmerican.com. Merrick has been interviewed on Canadian Broadcast Corporation and Wisconsin Public Radio among others.
Merrick is an inspiring new voice among those writing about the natural world. For more on her current work, visit ChimpSaver.org or FriendsOfChimps.org.
