Mirella Amato

Mirella has dedicated herself to promoting local beer and beer appreciation since 2007. She is a Master Cicerone and National Level BJCP judge and has sat on juries for the Canadian Brewing Awards, the Great American Beer Festival, the European Beer Star and the World Beer Cup. She was the recipient of the 2012 OCB Centre of Excellence Industry Choice Award in Food & Beer Matching Development.

Mirella provides staff training and consulting to pubs, restaurants and breweries. She can frequently be heard on the radio and her writing has appeared in many beer magazines. She also contributed a number of entries to the Oxford Companion to Beer.

Her first book, Beerology: Everything You Need to Know to Enjoy Beer...Even More was released in the spring of 2014. It won the Best Beer Book Canada Gourmand Drinks Award 2014, came in second at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2015, and was Shortlisted for Taste Canada Food Writing Awards 2015. As of 2017 Beerology is also available in German and French.
