Rene Limeres

Rene Limeres was raised on the East Coast but has lived most of his life in Alaska. A longtime wilderness fly fishing guide, photographer and outdoors writer, with hundreds of credits in all major sporting magazines, he also co-authored and published the best selling, award winning “Alaska Fishing: The Ultimate Angler’s Guide” in addition to two pocket guides on fishing and wildlife in Alaska, two earlier versions of Alaska Fishing and a newly released guidebook on fly fishing Russia's fabulous Kamchatka Peninsula. One of a handful of American entrepreneurs to establish successful sportfishing operations in Russia’s Far East after the opening of the former Soviet Union in the late 1980’s, Rene and his partner, international whitewater rafter Eugene “Goo” Vogt (whose fishing program out of Khabarovsk garnered five IGFA world records, including the largest Siberian taimen ever taken on rod and reel), were among the first American sportfish tour operators allowed to float and fish the rivers of Kamchatka in the early 1990’s. He is considered one of the premier authorities on flyfishing Alaska and Russia.
