Let's face it. Life after weight-loss surgery can be hard.
There are new habits to learn (like not eating and drinking together), protein goals to make (even though three bites of anything leaves you feeling stuffed), water to drink, exercise to get, vitamin regimens to follow. It can be overwhelming!
I'm here to help. Hi, I'm Nikki Massie. Gastric Bypass patient (1/8/08), mother, writer and author of Bariatric Foodie, where I help post-ops learn to play with their food!
So what does that even mean. Right?
More than you think. You see Bariatric Foodie started because of one simple fact. I went into weight loss surgery in the WORST possible way a person can. I didn't research. I didn't plan. I just did it. As you can imagine, I made many, many, many mistakes! But there's a silver lining. Because I made these mistakes, I can show you how to not make those same mistakes - and I do that everyday on Bariatric Foodie.
My books are designed to make your life as a post-op easier. Sure, there are delicious, low-carb, protein-packed recipes but there's also guidance for you. Because at the end of the day what you like and what I like might differ. I want you to know how food works so you can make it work in your plan! That's part of playing with your food.
But that's not all. Playing with your food is also learning how to take the foods you love to eat and make them healthier. I show you how to do that. In The Bariatric Guide to Perfect Protein Shakes, for example, I show you how to make shakes that taste like your favorite candy and ones that taste like your favorite coffeehouse drinks. In The Bariatric Foodie Holiday Survival Guide, I have lower-carb/higher-protein swaps for favorites like baked mac 'n cheese and mashed potatoes. The Bariatric Foodie Breakfast Book offers delicious dishes such as protein pancakes (yes, pancakes!), muffins, omelets and more!
So check out my titles. There are more on the way! As I try new foods and learn new recipes, I am excited to bring you even more information that will help you make the most out of your bariatric surgery and change your life for the better - for good.
So c'mon! Take a chance. Play with your food!
