"it all started for me when I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan", notes Kovarsky. "But there were no keyboards, so it only started me on my musical journey. Classic rock, Motown, then prog rock (ELP, Yes etc.) eventually led me into jazz, and now I like and play it all."
A chance recording session for Casio in 1981 led him to demonstration work, and then full time employment as a Product Manager. These years made him an expert in consumer/accompaniment keyboards as well as synths. Eight years as the Director of Marketing at Ensoniq grew his skills and experience, which led to a 16-year gig with Korg. While there the teams he was part of created some of the most famous instruments in history, including the Triton, the OASYS, the Electribes and the KAOSS Pad.
Kovarsky counts many of the world's most famous keyboardists as close friends, and picked up many tips and secrets from them over the years. An avid teacher, he loves sharing information about technology, music, MIDI and performing with others. He writes a monthly column for Keyboard Magazine amongst his many activities.
