Lynn Gillespie is a 3rd generation farmer who has been developing her high performance garden style for decades. Her home is The Living Farm where she has raised the fourth generation of organic farmers to take on the farm and family businesses. This 210 acre family farm near the base of Mt. Lamborn in Colorado sustains The Living Farm Café, her active CSA and the local community.
Tom Gillespie, her husband, was born on this land and has farmed since the time he was old enough to walk. Over the years she has run their greenhouses and grown bedding plants, trees, shrubs, fruits and vegetables. Her dairy sheep flock is one of her pride and joys. The flock provides milk for cheese making, and wool for spinning, weaving and felting.
Her first gardening book was written in 1998, "How to Grow all the Vegetables you can eat Right in Your Own Backyard". Her second book, "Cinderblock Gardens", was written in 1999.
In 2007 Lynn’s dream of expanding The Living Farm’s educational outreach was first realized. The Living Farm Sustainable Education Center was developed and teaches students from around the world how to become small scale organic farmers.
By 2009 The Living Farm released their first documentary, “Locavore; Local Diet Healthy Planet” with the goal of educating people on how eating locally can significantly affect your health, the health of the planet and stimulate your local economy.
Lynn’s life mission is to empower gardeners of all levels to high performance garden in an easy, fun, productive and always organic way. She developed the groundbreaking Abundance Garden Course to fulfill that life mission. The Abundance Garden Course guides students to build a high performance garden in one season. This course was launched at the end of 2014 and it is guiding gardeners from all over the nation to create their high performance garden. To learn more go to www.thelivingfarm.org
