Cynthia Pelman

My books are works of advocacy, in which I speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves.

I work as a speech and language therapist, mostly with children who for various reasons cannot speak, or cannot communicate with other people. These children may have language delay, or hearing impairment, or be extremely shy about speaking in front of other people.

In my work, as in my books, I try to give these children a voice - to help them to say what they want to say, to express their ideas and tell other people about their dreams and hopes.

My books would be of interest to anyone who would like to read about early learning and education, speech therapy, and child development, as well as parenting for children with anxiety, learning difficulties and language delays.

My books are not text books; they are fiction. However they are based on the real-life difficulties which kids and their parents might face. You will find in each one a gripping story, and engaging characters who live interesting lives. And in the process of reading their stories, you will come to know what it is like to be unable to communicate, and how these children can overcome their difficulties.
