Poonam Chawla was born and raised in Mumbai, India and is a long-time resident of New Jersey. Her love for words comes from her father who was a lexicographer.

From her mother, she learned the fine art of listening and observing.

Poonam uses fiction to make sense of her world, focusing mainly on the Indian diaspora and women’s issues.

When not writing or traveling, you will find her in her backyard sipping Darjeeling tea and listening to birdsong.
