Daljit Singh Jawa was born and raised in a Sikh family in Patiala India. After completing his civil engineering degree, he served in Military Engineering Service and Irrigation Department in Punjab (India). Then he immigrated to the United States. After enhancing his education with MPA and MS degrees from US universities, he worked as Water Resources Planner for the Kansas State Government and retired from there after 23 years’ service.
In 1995, he took up the task of translating the Sikh holy scripture Sri Guru Granth Sahib, in English, so that all the seekers, who do not know Punjabi or have difficulty in fully understanding the language in which this scripture is written, may easily understand and benefit from its enlightening wisdom. By God’s grace this project was completed in 2015, and submitted to Sikh Gurdwara Management committee, (SGPC-the Sikh seat of power), India in 2016, and was honored with Saropa (Scarf of honor), by the President, the Jathehdar Akal Takhat (spokesman SGPC), and the Chief Secretary (SGPC). It is now available at sellers like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Xlibris. It can also be read or down loaded from the author’s website www.gurbaniwisdom.com, or www.sikhnet.com. This translation has also been approved and recommended by a scholar, and executive member of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara management committee (DSGMC). I am now in the process of collecting quotations from publishers in India to publish this translation on a mass scale.
Recently the author has published another small book titled “In His Hands”. The purpose of writing this small book, which is more like a memoir is the author’s attempt to share some of the extraordinary events of his life, which lead him to the belief that if shedding all our self-conceit or false pride, we approach God like a loving child, then He would not only accede to our genuine prayers, but would also fulfill many of our needs, without even our asking, and our welfare and future would always be safe and sound “In His Hands.” This book is available on Amazon both as E- book (for $0.99), and paper back (for $3.58).
At present, he is publishing revised editions of the seven volumes of his Sri Guru Granth Sahib translation at amazon, so that the interested seekers of this divine wisdom, at a much lower cost. The author could even send free copies, of all his books, who may be willing to share this treasure with others. Presently, he is planning to set up a blog, so that people can daily listen to the text, and English interpretation of the daily Hukam Namah.
