Wesley R. Mullen

Wesley R. Mullen was born and raised in the Philadelphia, PA area. After attending Archmere Academy and Villanova University, he worked in the legal and financial fields before spending 13 years as an editor/writer at TV Guide magazine in Radnor, PA. He currently resides with his wife Connie in Florida. His travel essays, covering 40+ years of journeying, have been collected in four books so far - Thrilling Cities, Too (2018; originally published as City Sketches), Destinations: Cafe Hours (2015), Destinations: Ship Leaves Harbor (2016), and Flaneur in a Porkpie Hat (2017). A fifth book, When I Grow Up, I Wanna Be Kenneth Tobey (A Memoir in Essays) was released in 2018. Diagnosed with bone-marrow cancer in 2019, Mr. Mullen's (now literal) Bucket List includes: running with the bulls in Pamplona in the foreseeable future; walking one of the Caminos de Santiago (French or Portuguese) when he gets too slow to outrun the bulls; revisiting Lisbon and Istanbul, along with stops at Toledo and Córdoba, Spain, to research a new book (Return to Empire); and extensive travel throughout the U.S. (another book? American Empire). His dream retirement is to move to Lisbon, Portugal (someday...).
