Some highs and lows of my life are: the early death of my father, appreciation for my mother, my first marriage and birth of our son Sean, graduating from seminary, ordination as a Presbyterian pastor, 32 years of marriage to Linda, traveling the world and completing our bucket list, living in our dream home, interacting with a dozen 3-AM friends, writing, teaching classes, publishing books and poems, speaking and teaching, exploring progressive theology, spiritual living, pastoring the Sausalito Presbyterian Church. I was the pastor there for almost 27 year. I retired 14 years ago from Parish ministry. During 10 years of my retirement I taught a class on Mastering the Art of Spiritual Living at 4 residential recovery centers. I've published several books. See: www.mclaird.com
Here are the last lines of a poem I wrote to be read at my memorial service. Over the years I've read it dozens of times and it has never failed to bring a smile to my face and a lift to my Spirit.
I've been here many years, now it's time to go
Not sure when the train leaves or where it will go
It's either eternal extinction or on with the show
I'm content
It's either eternal extinction or on with the show
