Stoney Stonebraker

I am a writer and publisher based in Boulder, Colorado. My early career was spent in the Army Air Corps, serving as a meteorologist in Bermuda and Greenland. In 1952, I went to Air Force flight school and became a multi-engine pilot. Two years later, the Air Force sent me to the University of Colorado, Boulder to study electrical engineering. I graduated in 1962 and taught at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. During my tenure at the Air Force Academy, I wrote the book, An Introduction To Engineering Systems, which was published by the Air Force.

After retiring from the Force in 1965, I worked at IBM in Boulder as an industrial educator responsible for their continuing education program. I produced 12 self-study booklets on copier technology that were used by IBM engineers and programmers. After retirement from IBM in 1985, and for the next 20 years, I helped my wife Dorothy with her real estate development business and our philanthropic work with various charities.

I started writing poetry, fiction, and nonfiction books in 1990s. I have recently self-published two illustrated children’s poems, “Roger the Monkey” and “Lisa the Greyhound,” which can purchased and viewed on Magcloud.com and Blurb.com. My nonfiction book about personal enlightenment, Being You, is currently under consideration with Pelican Press. Also in development is a nonfiction memoir titled BENJY, the true story of a homeless man named James Beauchamp, whom I met in California. Elizabeth English of Boulder, Colorado is writing a fictionalized screenplay based on Benjy’s story, JUST DESSERTS!, for a possible television series with the Hallmark Channel and the Christian Broadcasting Network. My next project is a book of humor titled Spellcheck—So What? To contact me about my writing projects, please email me at: ddstonebra@msn.com
