Stephen Thorson

Stephen Thorson continues to teach systematic and comparative theology in seminaries in Nepal, having earned an master's degree in theological studies from Wheaton College Graduate School, where on graduation he was awarded the Kantzer Award in Christian History and Theology. Previously he earned an MD degree from Pennsylvania State University and completed his pediatric residency at the University of Virginia. He has worked in the country of Nepal (Mt Everest country!) since 1984. Presently he is also involved in vaccine-preventable disease research sponsored by Oxford University.

Dr Thorson contributed most of the topical articles for the award-winning Applied New Testament Commentary (textual commentary by Thomas Hale), as well as those for The Applied Old Testament Commentary (Hale and Thorson). He has published theological articles, many medical research studies, and essays on C.S. Lewis. The Lewis essays have concentrated on Lewis's "Great War" controversy with his friend, Owen Barfield. Dr Thorson's book-length treatment of that controversy has just been published-- Joy and Poetic Imagination: Understanding C.S. Lewis's "Great War" with Owen Barfield and its Significance for Lewis's Conversion and Writings.
