Andreas Augustin

Andreas Augustin was born in Vienna, Austria, from where he started a career as a traveling journalist and foreign correspondent, magazine and books publisher.

He is the author of over 50 books about famous and legendary hotels, stimulating places and the art of travel at large. With his wife Carola, a historian, he cooperates on various books.

During the 1980s they had taken up residence at Raffles Hotel in Singapore for years to study and to write about the region and the hotels of South East Asia.

He wrote the first authorized history of The Peninsula in Hong Kong, the Metropole in Hanoi, the Strand in Yangon, to mention but a few of his works. He is the author of the book The Oriental Bangkok.

In Europe he wrote books about the Grand Hotel ion Rome, the Imperial, Sacher and other hotels in Vienna, The Savoy in London, and many others.

Many of his works were created in cooperation with leading historians and local writers.
