I did a great deal of writing during my professional career as a Canadian diplomat and, beforehand, as a a researcher at the Alberta Legislature and House of Commons. Having developed a love of the mystery genre in my late twenties, it was no great leap to combine my enjoyment of writing and background in diplomacy with my interest in the crime fiction.
I moved to Sidney, British Columbia, in 2003, and eventually took another look at a manuscript I'd drafted, then stuck in a drawer, back in 1997. I revised it and sent it to TouchWood Editions, who picked it up and asked for a series involving my two protagonists, RCMP Inspector Liz Forsyth and DCI Stephen Hay of Scotland Yard.
My first book, "A Quiet Kill", was published in 2014, followed by "Not a Clue" in 2015. The third book in the series, "Measured for Murder", will be published in April, 2017.
When not writing, I am usually to be found at the barn, where I keep my lovely, if opinionated, grey horse, Segura, who quite happily gobbles up all my cash, including what I make in royalties from my books. He would be very happy to see my books make the best-seller list.
