My name is Howard and I am not a writer. Well...I have written two books, but certainly do not consider myself a professional writer.
I'm a retired teacher. For 32 years I taught gifted education and fifth grade...and survived I might add.
I have been a Hospice volunteer for about 22 years. For the last seven I also work with Long Island Golden Retriever Rescue, now serving on the board.
After rescuing a Golden Retriever with cancer I became very involved with rescue. When she died, I had a definite need to tell her story. The book was titled...Golden Eclipse: Heart Dog. It turned out to be more of a philosophy of life book, and actually has been one of the top couple of sellers in the area. Goldens certainly do know how to live.
Ths year I fostered a different type of dog. A three to five year old that was used as a breeder dog. I was to foster him for a week or two. It turned into five months! He was a very different rescue, with a severe problem.
As the rescue was progressing, I kept a sort of narrative of things as they happened. This turned into my second book...Saving Cinco.
Two entirely different books, but both dealing with amazing dogs. Then again, aren't all dogs amazing??
