I have been a San Francisco/Bay Area educator since 2001. After completing my Bachelors of Arts at San Jose State University, I have completed (2) California Teaching Credentials. A Single Subject in Art Education and a Multiple Subject Credential as well as my Masters in Education (2009). I currently reside in San Jose, California with my beautiful wife Jessica and our 2 amazing children, Jack and Addison.
Autistic and Awesome is a tribute to my 7-year-old son for all his hard work and effort. Jack was formally diagnosed with Autism in 2011. He is currently enrolled in an Autistic Resource Program (ARP) in San Jose, which is designed to mainstream high functioning autistic students while giving them additional support, such as social behavioral, occupational, and speech services. Our family has also participated in a clinical family training program, sponsored through Stanford University as well as ABA services.
I use my book as a teaching tool in the classroom, to enlighten and educate students about autism. I highly recommend educators as well as parents to use this book to create dialog and further understanding of how individuals on the spectrum perceive and interpret the world around them.
