Rachel Marchant is a diverse Independent Poet and Spoken Word Artist. As a cancer survivor, she has discovered healing through emotional expression in a poetry pendulum that swings from the melancholy to the seriously silly.
Her serendipitous discovery of poetry began when she developed tendonitis in her dominant right wrist; she switched to using her left hand. After a few years of increasing the task and difficulty level, she had become ambidextrous. To quote Rachel "I suspect that I activated the dormant right side of my brain; because, I literally woke up one morning and wrote a poem."
Since developing a love of poetry, she has performed at various invitation and open mic readings. Her works have been featured and published in multiple books which led to her receiving the Editor's Choice Award 2012. In addition to the aforementioned, she has now succeeded in developing tendonitis in her left wrist.
