Larry R. Matthews

Larry R. Matthews lives in Northern California and has been writing about local history since 1998. He is the author of many history-related web sites, newspaper columns and books. In January of 2014 he authored "The Building Of The Oroville Dam". He moved to Oroville in 1963, right at the beginning of the dam's construction. Over the next 5 years he saw the dam rise to its completion height of 770 feet. He spent 15 months researching archives for photographs and facts relating to the Oroville Dam.

In November of 2016 he co-authored the book "The Lost Communities of Lake Oroville" with Scott C. Roberts. It is a companion book to "The Building of the Oroville Dam" book. It discusses those communities that were either inundated by Lake Oroville or were torn down due to another reason.
