Liz Garnett

Liz Garnett is a travel photographer specialising in France. Since 1994 she has been regularly visiting France including living in Northern France for two years. She has now written several cookery books and in February 2020 published her debut novel, Journey.

Through her time spent in France, she has developed a passion for French food and enjoys trying out new produce. Her first cookery book (French Holiday Cookery) was developed from the need to cook simple dishes using limited cooking facilities while in France. French Holiday Cookery - Camping Lite, requires fewer utensils and less store cupboard essentials but still has recipes packed with flavour. Both books have the ingredients translated into French.

Liz has drawn on her years of experience of travelling to France and staying in gites, mobile homes and a tiny tent. She understands the frustrations of trying to find particular foods in a foreign country and has translated all the ingredients into French.

British Holiday Cookery was published in 2020 off the back of the French Holiday Cookery series to help British holiday-makers make the most of a staycation in the United Kingdom. Wheat and Dairy Free versions of both the French and English holiday cookery books then followed.

Journey is about an artist who is running out of money and ideas for a new style of art. The solution is to head off to France on a road trip. Comedy moments abound as their journey takes in the highs and lows of camping and travelling around Brittany. A Breton Pilgrimage is the research trip for Journey and also takes in a few other locations as well as covering the history of the area.

In 2022 Liz developed a new pilgrimage route in Kent with fellow artist, Alexandra le Rossignol, and has subsequently written a guidebook for the route: The Way of Saint Martin is a slow pilgrimage from Dover to Canterbury and encourages the pilgrim to slow down and take in more of the landscape, architecture and history of the area.
