Larry Carello, author of "Acts of Deception," hails from the town of Sylvan Beach in central New York state. After graduation from the United States Naval Academy he embarked on a four-decade adventure in aviation, and has flown a wide variety of military and commercial aircraft. He spent five years attached to a San Diego based H-46 helicopter squadron, during which he made two shipboard deployments to the Western Pacific.
His first novel, "A Golden Weekend," received first runner-up honors from the Military Writers Society of America in the category of Best Literary Novel for 2012. He followed that with "Rotorboys," a fast-paced novel of men, ships, and helicopters at sea; and "Verbal Orders," the story of two ex-Navy pilots that track down an American oil heiress held captive by Muslim terrorists in the Southern Philippines.
Larry retired from commercial flying in 2016 as an international captain for a major U.S. airline. He lives with his wife in Florida, where he continues to write white-knuckle thrillers about helicopters and the pilots who fly them.
