Robert A. Fox

Dr. Nina Buchanan began her professional journey on the Montana prairie as a one-room school teacher. Since then her addiction to learning and teaching has led her from Montana to Indiana to California and 21 years ago to the University of Hawaii Hilo. In addition to teaching grades kindergarten through graduate school students, Dr. Buchanan was a collaborating university partner in the founding of the West Hawaii Explorations Academy Public Charter School. She continues to work with WHEA as a community member on the Local School Board and advisor in the areas of assessment and dissemination of the WHEA model. She is a nationally recognized expert on school choice, project-based learning and gifted and talented education.
