James R. Storey

After receiving an MBA from Carnegie-Mellon U., I worked in Washington, DC for 38 years as an analyst of public policy and budget issues. Most of my career was spent on Capitol Hill at the Senate Budget Committee, the Joint Economic Committee and the Library of Congress, working on issues related to retirement, pensions, unemployment and welfare. I also was a staff member of the Urban Institute and two other research institutes. I authored many policy reports and research papers and testified at numerous Congressional hearings.

Since retiring and moving to California, I have published a book about the dramatic life and untimely death of my son ("Deadly Mix: An American Dreamer, Mental Illness, and Crisis in Cairo"). I've started a scholarship in his name (Andrew James Storey) at the University of San Diego's Joan B. Kroc School of Peace Studies.

Currently, I am working on a personal memoir. After its completion, I plan to write a novel.

After several decades of competitive running and long-distance cycling, I am now an avid hiker. I'm also a music lover, with 7,000 titles on my iPod.
