Suzette Standring

Suzette Martinez Standring (www.readsuzette.com) was born in San Francisco to Filipino immigrant parents who didn't have the money to send her to college. But she excelled in careers in legal association management, and later, in the journalism industry as a reporter and syndicated columnist.

Her award winning books, The Art of Column Writing (2008) and The Art of Opinion Writing (2014) are used in national university journalism courses, such as Johns Hopkins University. Also, they are featured internationally at universities in China and India, where she has presented on Zoom. She is a popular writing workshop presenter at conferences and universities.

Fun fact: she is certified in hypnotherapy and presents a fascinating guided imagery program for writers, well received at journalism and writing conferences.

Her spirituality column has been syndicated since 2008 with GateHouse Media and featured in The Patriot Ledger (MA) twice monthly. Her writings have been published in The Boston Globe, The Huffington Post, Editor & Publisher, Edible South Shore, and others.

She is the host and producer of "It's All Write With Suzette," a 30-minute cable TV show on the craft of writing where she interview authors. It has run since 2010.

She loves helping writers toward purposeful expression.

She is a past president (2004-2006) of The National Society of Newspaper Columnists (www.columnists.com) and remains active.
