I was born and raised in Sioux City, Iowa, in the heart of the midwest, where the sales people in the department stores were very patient with me as I studied and stared in the jewelry cases and asked a million questions. I would bury the shiny rocks (mica and quartz catching the light) in my back yard; these were my earliest treasures.
After years in academia as a Professor of Sociology, I finally yielded to my passionate interest in gems and jewelry and became a Graduate Gemologist.
I have enjoyed the last forty-five years buying, selling, and appraising various types of jewelry. I have owned two antique shops specializing in estate jewelry and taught classes to entrepreneurs interested in the antique jewelry business.
Along with being a Life Coach, I am a jewelry specialist and consultant for a major international auction house and continue my passion with antique and estate jewelry. Endlessly delighted by the flash of light, sparkle, and shine of beautiful jewelry, I have captured this feeling in my children's book, EyE the Spy: Mystery of the Sparkle, about a young girl who discovers a shimmering stone on her school playground. The most precious joy in my life, among many others, is appreciating the sparkle in the eyes of my family and friends. Visit me at www.LynneArkin.com.
