James Flewellen

Dr James Flewellen is a biophysicist based in London at the Francis Crick Institute, and a wine writer and educator.

He holds the Diploma in Wine and Spirits from the WSET and is an award-winning writer for 'The Concise Guide to Wine and Blind Tasting'.

James learned his trade in wines tasting as a student at Oxford University, where he led the university's blind tasting team to victory in several competitions, most notably the Sciences Po International Tasting (SPIT) and the Varsity Match against Cambridge University. Reporting on the 58th Varsity Match in the Financial Times, Jancis Robinson MW described him as 'the most impressive taster of the lot'.

James is the founder and curator of The Oxford Wine Blog, has written for the The Rambling Epicure, and consulted on various food and wine matching projects, including the Chop Chop gourmet meal preparation app.
