Daniel J. Tortora

Historian Daniel J. Tortora (PhD, Duke University) is the author of Carolina in Crisis (2015) and Fort Halifax (2014).

For 15 years, he has been studying and writing about American Indians and the Colonial and Revolutionary eras (especially the eighteenth-century frontier). His award-winning and often-cited work is set in New England and the Southeast.

Daniel has taught at Colby College and Duke University. He has written for the Journal of the American Revolution and the South Carolina Historical Magazine. He has more than 60 public lectures and podcast appearances to his name.

A nonfiction book editor and publishing coach, Daniel has helped dozens of US-based authors improve and publish promising book manuscripts, and he maintains a well-trafficked website with on-demand courses and extensive resources for writing, publishing, and selling books.
