Sarah Bennett

Sarah Bennett is a Wellington-based writer specialising in New Zealand travel. She is co-author of five editions of Lonely Planet’s New Zealand guide; the 7th edition of Hiking & Tramping New Zealand; and the first editions of New Zealand’s Best Trips & the South Island's Best Trips (2016). She is also a regular contributor to Lonely Planet's trade titles including Epic Rides, Wine Trails and Best in Travel. Sarah is co-author and publisher of The Best of Wellington – the city's only independent guidebook (six editions since 2003); author of The New Zealand Tramper’s Handbook (Craig Potton Publishing), and Let’s Go Camping (AA/Random House).

Sarah's co-writes with her husband, Lee Slater. They spend many months on the road each year in their campervan, researching new places and attractions. They love mountain biking, hiking and other outdoor pursuits, as well as eating, drinking, dancing and socialising.
