Karim Benammar

Karim Benammar is a philosopher specialized in Thinking Techniques and the Philosophy of Abundance. He lectures and gives workshops in thinking techniques for companies and organisations across Europe. He is curator at THNK, the Amsterdam School of Creative Leadership and a senior associate with the Centre for Team Excellence in the United Kingdom.

Of mixed Dutch-Algerian ancestry, Benammar grew up in Holland before going to study philosophy in England (BA, Sussex University, 1987) and the United States (Ph.D. Pennsylvania State University, 1993). Fascinated by Japan, he continued his philosophy studies at the University of Kyoto (1993-1996) and became Associate Professor of Philosophy and Cultural Studies at Kobe University, where he taught in Japanese (1996-2002). He has been a visiting researcher at the United Nations University in Tokyo (1999-2000) and at the Institute of Economics of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil (2000-2001). He was Associate Professor and Director of Research for "Reflection on Action" at Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences from 2003 to 2007.
