Christopher Witmore

Christopher Witmore is an archaeologist and professor at Texas Tech University. A student of the Classics and former stonemason raised on a rural farm near the border of the Carolinas, he holds a PhD from Stanford University (2005) and a MA from the University of Sheffield (1998). Believing in the promise of archaeology, his research struggles to understand the profound changes in land, objects, companion animals, and human modes of living over the last ten millennia in light of present challenges.
