Cindy Stringer Wismer

Cindy Stringer Wismer was born in Chincoteaque, VA to Tom and Olive Stringer. Her father was an Air Force Colonel, flying in the Berlin Airlift and later teaching at San Diego State University. Her mother was a dance instructor.

Cindy received her BA from Northeastern University and graduate work from CalState San Bernardino.

After thirty-five years of teaching special education as well as general education Cindy wrote her first book, 'Never Push and Never Pull,' drawing on her experiences in the special education classroom. She incorporated her mother's love of dance by putting on many performances with her special children.

Cindy often saw parents feeling intimidated at IEP meetings. Realizing that parents need information on how to get a diagnosis and services for their children, Cindy began writing to empower parents. As a teacher, her hands were tied; as an author, they are informing parents.

In addition to writing books on autism and ADHD, Cindy writes for Autism Parenting Magazine and has written three novels.

Cindy also writes under the pen names C.S. Thomas and C.S. Wismer.

Cindy Stringer Wismer resides in California with her husband Michael, son Harrison, two cats, one dog and a tortoise.
