I am a civil engineer by profession, a Geordie by birth, and Sunderland supporter (and therefore masochist) by inclination. (Someone has to be a Sunderland supporter, and I'm afraid I drew the short straw...)

I have been writing for quite a while, but this is the first time I have felt brave enough to put anything on Amazon's Kindle Store.

My professional engineering career has taken me all over the world - Africa, the Far East, South America, as well as Holland and the UK - and this experience of exotic places and different cultures is probably what gave me the urge to write. I have a Japanese wife and two grown up sons, one of whom was born in Holland, so I do feel like a citizen of the world.

I don't particularly like the present state of the world, so I have always been attracted more to writing about the past, and perhaps bringing the past to life, if I can.
