Ducktor Morty

The Can Do Duck books are positive, motivational children's books written by Ducktor Morty with the help of his family. These books help children learn to believe in themselves and learn to work with others. Ducktor Morty, M.D., is a child psychiatrist who wrote these books which were illustrated by his children and wife, who is a child psychologist. Ducktor Morty has a private practice in child and adult psychiatry in New Jersey. He also works at a large community mental health center. He uses the name, Ducktor Morty, because he wants to keep his book writing and psychiatry practice separate.

Writing these books has been fun for our family and they've inspired us to believe that we can do what we put our minds to. We hope that they'll inspire you as well. I wrote the stories and my daughters drew the pictures. My wife (a child psychologist) helped with the messages, writing and drawings. These books have been used in schools across the country. Children have been reciting the Can Do Duck slogan along with the pledge in classrooms and it has been chanted by cheerleaders. The books have inspired a book club with children doing good deeds in Florida. A literacy program in South Carolina has its very own live Can Do Duck mascot and has distributed the books to thousands of children in South Carolina. The books have given hope to children after hurricanes and tornadoes. One of the books was made into a puppet show by relief workers in Mississippi. They've also inspired adults and they've helped many, many children overcome their fears and accomplish their goals. Coaches have used the books for their teams. Parents and grandparents have purchased the books for young children as well as adult children who they wanted to benefit from the Can Do Duck message: I say I can. I make a plan. I get right to it. And then I do it!

The books teach positive self-talk and positive visualization to help children and adults accomplish their goals. They use humor and teach important life lessons. Parents and children will want to read the books again and again.

The most exciting recent news about The Can Do Duck is that in the last year my daughter has produced a children's musical called Can Do Duck: The Musical which was performed to sold out audiences in New York City. Stay tuned for future performances of Can Do Duck: The Musical some time very soon. Meanwhile in England, a teacher performed a musical based on The Can Do Duck last year and plans to put it on again this year as well.

The books have come a long way from their start as a family project. We hope that you enjoy them and are inspired by them.
