M. D. Mascaro

Finishing college with a degree in English literature and three teaching certificates, it was inevitable that M D Mascaro would go to work in retail and sing in a rock band on the weekends. This kind of life experience made writing for teens a natural. That, plus the fact that she has never quite grown up. She is extremely proud of this and will therefore not tell you how many years she taught art in high school after the band broke up.

M D loves to provide her readers with a sense of authentic experience. For Brandy and the Banshees, she traveled to the Irish National Library in Dublin to research Irish families and folklore. An avid snorkeler and advocate of ocean conservation, she lived for a week on a converted cargo ship in the South Pacific to write The Secret of the Sea Witch.

M D Mascaro resides in New Jersey but she hopes to move to Rivendell.
