Jane Hayman attended kindergarten in Brooklyn, NY, where she now lives just a few blocks from that first school. She grew up in New Jersey; graduated with Honors from Smith, and as an adult lived mainly in Manhattan and in Santa Fe, New Mexico before moving back to Brooklyn.
She has taught young children to read using the work of Robert Frost, Carl Sandburg, Lewis Carroll and other poets. She taught her own son to read when she and her husband, poet and editor Ward (Terry) Abbott, lived for six months in Puerto Pollensa, Spain. She considers herself both a divorcee and a widow, since she and her husband became very close again for several years before his death in 2008; he played an important role in helping her to return to writing after many years of silence.
Her new book "Ghost Places," was published on January 1, 2014. She also collaborated with illustrator Clotilda Jamcracker on "The Frog Prince and Other Poems--Fairy Tales for Grownups," which came out in 2012. Both books are available at Amazon.
