Annie Crawley

Annie Crawley loves to travel and everything water from the ocean to the mountains, from the sea to the sky. She travels with cameras in hand and is always looking for the next great shot. She loves to laugh and surround herself with kids of all ages. Her grandmother taught her the art of traveling and has traveled 5 of the 7 continents, but plans to explore them all. Her favorite underwater adventures include diving with schooling hammerhead sharks in the Galapagos, exploring 17,000 islands in Indonesia, and discovering the mysteries of cephalopod (squid, octopus, cuttlefish, and the chambered nautilus) behavior! She dreams of traveling to the Murdoch Research Station in Antarctica and although she has spent more than 10 hours underwater a day, she dreams of living underwater for a month as an aquanaut.

Dreams: Annie wants every child to fall in love with the ocean because we protect what we love. The ocean is better than cartoons, and real!

Biggest Life Event: "Learning to scuba dive changed my life. To be able to breathe underwater, defies nature and opens us up to a world in which the unbelievable is real."

Annie was born and raised in Chicago but considers Edmonds, Washington home now. She graduated from University of Illinois and is now enrolled in the Communication Leadership program at University of Washington.

Annie, founder Dive Into Your Imagination, has spent the past 20 years living and working around the world. As an award winning producer, photographer and motivational speaker, Annie photographs and produces programs about life on our planet, specializing in our ocean. Trained as a journalist, her recent work includes books, educator guides, DVDs, films, cartoon characters from the Adventures of Ocean Annie series, and a series of eBooks designed for the iPad® available on the iBookstore®. Annie is a member of the Women Divers Hall of Fame and is the Camp Director of Beach Camp at Sunset Bay in Edmonds, WA. As the founder of Dive Into Your Imagination, her mission is to promote an understanding about ecological systems to create a sustainable human relationship for a healthy Ocean. Dive Into Your Imagination is changing the way the next generation views the ocean and themselves. Annie is available for interviews and speaking engagements.
