Jack Holbrook

Jack Holbrook got his start as a writer and editor while working for the student newspaper at Mount Vernon Nazarene College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Communications. After graduating, he developed a remedial writing lab for college freshmen and wrote press releases for the school's public relations department.

Jack studied non-fiction writing at The Ohio State University and received a Master of Liberal Studies with an emphasis in non-fiction writing. His coursework included magazine, personal essay, and documentary writing as well as journalism and mass media research.

In the corporate world, Jack worked as a technical writer and editor, project manager, and business analyst.

Jack began researching English medieval life and writing the first draft of "The Lord's Son" in the late 1990s. The manuscript went through a number of revisions before being published in 2013 by Irish Creek Publishing.

Jack is a fan of and has been influenced by Mark Twain ("Tom Sawyer," "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn"), Robert Louis Stevenson ("Kidnapped," "Treasure Island"), C.S. Lewis ("The Chronicles of Narnia") and J.R.R. Tolkien ("The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings").
