Mirra Leigh Anson

I currently serve as the Director of Retention and Early Intervention at The University of Iowa, where I have also served as the Director of the Upward Bound Project in the Center for Diversity and Enrichment. Previously, I worked as the Director of Developmental Education and Student Success for Missouri State University-West Plains and developmental writing instructor for Missouri State University-West Plains and St. Louis Community College. Other insitutions and positions that have been foundational in shaping my service in higher education include admissions and precollegiate program work at Southeast Missouri State University and educational research and grant management at The University of Missouri-St. Louis. My professional experience and interests have been to prepare students for postsecondary education, particularly students from underserved backgrounds, and assist all students in their transition to and success in college. I also have worked with international students, working to increase their English language skills for American higher education.
