Doreen Reed is a Poet and a Storyteller.
She wrote her first poem “No Socks to Wash” just for fun, during December 2000. She found more ideas rapidly flowing and soon built up a collection. She auditioned, successfully, to become a W.I. speaker and since then has entertained many audiences throughout the U.K with her amusing tales and poems.
She has been described as "very funny" and "has the ability to write an amusing tale about even the most mundane event". Her stories cover a wide variety of subjects from a worm in a compost bin to a visit to an osteopath. Many ladies across Norfolk have read the poem she wrote for the mobile breast screening unit.
She is happy to entertain audiences of any number, after dinner, Hotels. Community Clubs & Groups, Holiday villages, coffee mornings, private functions etc.
She takes part in variety shows, she also performs a 90 min. "One Woman Show"
She was a favourite on “Maggie's Brew” on BBC Radio Norfolk and has made recordings available to Hospital Radio and Talking Newspapers. She is also a regular entertainer at Park House Hotel, Sandringham. www.parkhousehotel.org.uk
Many of her poems are available on Cds but she finds some people prefer a book. “No Socks to Wash” is Doreen’s first E book but she plans on this being the first of a number. She has a website doreenreedpoet.com
