I have always been interested in 'ghost stories, some say Britain is the most haunted country in the world. All those stories represent a fascinating window into history, a small vignette of the past, how our ancestors lived and what their hopes, religion, politics and fears were.

I started off by writing a book on Ghosts of Leicestershire and have since followed that with books on East Sussex, West Sussex, Northamptonshire and finally London Ghosts and Hauntings. The London book specifically avoids where possible all the well known and much repeated stories and I hope I have added more original material than many other books of the same nature!!

I also run (and have for the last 25 years) Ghost Walks of my home village of Pevensey in East Sussex, The weekly walks have literally entertained thousands of people and I also do regular walks of Lewes and Alfriston.

I write a weekly column in the Eastbourne Herald and in addition written pieces in numerous local and national papers and publications and been involved in pieces on BBC and ITV from news items to an interview on Country File with Ben Fogle whilst walking down the steps of Pevensey Castle Dungeon !!

Do I believe in ghosts? Well my background is scientific (I have also written books on and taught Astronomy) I really cannot believe there are lost souls floating round out there but on the other hand so many people have 'seen' something one cannot discount every sighting. Real or not these are all fascinating stories that form the ancient and revealing folklore of our distant past
