Kim is a gifted, inspirational and engaging speaker who has spoken at youth conferences, church services and Pastors conferences around Australia, New Zealand, London, the Czech Republic, Russia, Germany and the USA. He has taken seminars on mission to the first world, mentoring and leadership. His preaching crosses denominational boundaries, with Kim accepting invitations to speak at The Salvation Army, Oz Reach, Vineyard, Reformed Churches of Australia, Lutheran church of Australia, Baptist Churches, Anglican and Churches of Christ (to name a few). His highlight in Australia was being the Saturday night keynote at Soul Survivor and speaking on the main stage for the State Youth Games to 3000 young people.
Now in America since December 2009 he has spoken at: BLAST youth conference at the Dells, the National Presbyterian Church planters Conference,The National New Thing Gathering. He has guest lectured at Wheaton College, Asbury Seminary and Johnson University. He has also spoken at Exponential, the largest church planting conference in the Western World and the Verge Conference in Austin Texas.He preaches in local churches across America and Europe and spends time consulting their staff teams, twice a month. However his highlight in America was speaking to 99 Varsity Football players and their dads from Naperville Central High School, an 8a school that won the 2013 state championship.
Kim uses a great blend of humor and passion in his speaking and is a great storyteller. He has a background in theatre and comedy and a deep passion for God with a great level of personal transparency. He is often asked to speak on building missional communities, Consumer culture & reaching people through local mission.
Kim was a youth pastor, then a small group pastor in Australia in the church he grow up in since he was 9 years old (SECC). At 27 Kim and Maria decided to pioneer a new church, called the Junction, with his life long mentors, Steve and Sonia Swain and a small group of friends. Also, while completing his Bachelor Degree from Tabor he became a Forge Intern under Alan Hirsch and eventually would work for Alan at the Forge Mission Training Network as one of his State Directors, while leading the team at the Junction.
After being the Victorian Director of Forge Australia for several years and the National Recruiter and Networker for Youth for Christ Australia. In 2009 Kim took the role as Director of Missional Imagination and a teaching pastor at Community Christian Church in Chicago, USA. His role is to help Community a 7000 person Multisite church (14), become a missional church that empowers a micro movement of people on mission through small groups.
The Hammond's also came to America to support Alan and Debbie Hirsch and launch Forge America. Kim is the National Director of Forge America and is building HUBS that run the Forge residency across America, Forge America will launch its twentieth hub at the end of this year. He is also the international Director of the Forge Mission Training Network working with Directors in Canada, America, Australia, Russia, Ecuador and Scotland. With new hubs launching in England and Germany.
Kim and Maria have been married since 1994 and have three boys Lachlan, Carter and Jordan. They live in Aurora Chicago. Kim and his boys love playing basketball, loves food and having people over for BBQs but mostly he loves taking his boys swimming or his wife to the movies.
