Gabriel M A Segal

Gabriel Segal was born in 1959 in Hampstead, London, to Polish immigrant parents. His mother was the psychoanalyst, Hanna Segal. He studied Philosophy at London, Oxford and M. I. T., where he received his PhD in 1987, studying with Noam Chomsky. An academic by trade, he is Professor Emeritus in the Philosophy Department, King's College, London. He has also been a professor at the University of Madison, Wisconsin and at the University of Reading and has been a Visiting Fellow at the Australian National University. He has published extensively in philosophy of language, philosophy of psychology and in cognitive science and currently specializes in the theory of addiction and recovery. He is author of "A Slim Book about Narrow Content" and "Twelve Steps to Psychological Good Health and Serenity - a Guide," co-author, with Richard K. Larson, of "Knowledge of Meaning: Introduction to Semantic Theory" and co-editor, with Nick Heather, of "Addiction & Choice: Rethinking the Relationship."
