Dr. Byron Harrell

Dr. Byron Harrell is Managing Partner of Philoptima Consulting located in New Orleans. He has extensive experience in assisting client foundations in developing multi-year strategic philanthropic plans to help them be more effective and impactful with their donations. He is a former Chair of the board for the Southeastern Council of Foundations headquartered in Atlanta. Byron also facilitates board retreats for foundation and hospital clients and has research interests in measuring organizational functioning and impact. He serves an elite group of CEOs as an experienced high-performance coach. Dr. Harrell is particularly resourceful in assisting large nonprofit hospitals and health systems in the sale of assets and the formation of residual grant making health legacy foundations. He serves as a board member of a large academic medical center and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ret.). Byron and his wife Shireen are also Mississippi farmers with bees, Blueberrys and pine forest lands. They are parents and grandparents with family members in Texas, Washington DC, and Ottawa, Canada in addition to New Orleans.
